Radiation-induced effects in glass windows for optical readout GEM-based detectors

Abstract In this paper we present irradiation measurements performed to select a transparent anode substrate that best meets the requirements of an optical readout for novel detector, LaGEMPix. The modification properties material due proton were studied in soda-lime, fused quartz and silica glasses coated with Indium Tin Oxide layer. irradiations using research Beam Transfer Line (BTL) IBA Cyclone 18 MeV cyclotron Bern University Hospital (Inselspital). We recorded visible scintillation light generated by soda-lime samples. also investigated darkening these three observed radiation-induced colour centres glass sample. transmission spectra samples measured before after irradiation. Reductions 45%, 1% 0.4% glass, silica, respectively (with associated error 0.25%). conclude option our specific application is substrate, which will be next generation LaGEMPix detector.
